Lyon Irish Trad Fête is a new festival dedicated to traditional Irish
music, taking place in Villeurbanne & Lyon (France) over the course of a weekend.
From 5 to 7 June 2026, we’ll come together to share what lies at the heart of this music: its transmission, the joy of playing together, meeting new people and the connections formed through music.
What’s on ? Workshops, sessions, a concert and a céilí.
Whether you’re an experienced musician, curious about Irish dancing or simply love live music, the festival is designed to be open and welcoming to all, and it will have something for everyone.
Drawing from Lyon’s famous passages through buildings, Traboule ton Tune is all about moving from one place to the other, exchanging ideas, and bringing people, notes and stories together. Here, music is played on stage, around tables in a pub, in a classroom or in between two conversations.
This first edition aims to bring Irish music to life in Villeurbanne and Lyon, to share it and to come together for some mighty craic – une belle fête !

Sárán Mulligan is a concertina player from Dundalk, County Louth. A five-time All- Ireland Champion, UCD Patrick Semple Medalist, and Bonn Óir Uí Riada finalist, Sárán is a regular performer at home and abroad, most recently at Other Voices, Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann and Tradfest, Temple Bar.
Sárán’s music is characterised by its innovation and energy yet it is grounded in his County Leitrim heritage. He was recently featured as part of the ‘Carrying the Tunes’ series, an RTÉ Céilí House special showcasing some of the most exciting young traditional artists in the country.
Of particular interest to Sárán at the moment is composition. His writing is deeply rooted in the traditional Irish music idiom but takes influences from European folk music, contemporary and classical art music, and popular music. Sárán’s background is in mathematics and as such, numbers in music often provide a basis for his compositions. Sárán is musician in residence at the Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda and is working on a number of projects which include responding musically to exhibitions and artwork within the gallery, as well as responding musically to the gallery itself as an architectural space.
Sárán is also in demand as a tutor of Irish music and was recently the conductor of NósNua Youth Folk Orchestra. He is excited to further explore the potential of his music as a recording artist, having previously recorded with NósNua, The Mary Wallopers, and electronic artist, Lullahush.

Dave Sheridan
- Flute -
Dave Sheridan’s flute playing has been described as “a highly accomplished free flowing fluid style, with sound technique and solid driving rhythm” (Hot Press Magazine) and a flute style, which takes on “Lark like qualities” (fRoots Magazine). On the back of his critically acclaimed debut album Sheridans Guesthouse, he released his second solo flute album entitled Drivin’ Leitrim Timber in 2010. This album has received rave reviews, with The Irish Times describing it as “a joy…. a thoughtfully organised collection, that celebrates a fluid free flowing regional flute style….with enough sharp edges to keep the listener’s antennae on high alert for the next hairpin bend”.
Dave is a founding member of the renowned traditional group Garadice and has recorded with artists from Lunasa, Dervish, At The Racket and De Danann as well as performing on many occasions with the Sligo based band Téada.
Whether teaching, performing, or collaborating with fellow musicians, Dave’s playing is guided by respect for the tradition, while always leaving room for creativity, humour, and heart. His music reflects not only where he comes from — but the people, places, and stories that continue to inspire him.

Muireann has toured parts of North America, Asia and Europe extensively with various groups and as a soloist, while also being in much demand in Ireland as a performer and tutor.
Muireann’s debut album, É istigh Liomsa Sealad (2023), is a unique sound-world, where contemporary and traditional influences combine with the dominating sounds of the pipes and ethereal arrangements of sean-nós song. Muireann is also a featured artist on Na Pí obairí illeann’s 2023 CD release, Mná na bPí ob Uilleann, Vol.1 – the first unique recording in a series that represents the many female uilleann pipers playing in the world today.

Muireann continues to delve deep into new sonic explorations for the pipes through ongoing exciting collaborations with artists such as Ró is, Peter Power, Caitrí ona Frost, Aisling Lyons, Macdara Ó Faolá in and Becky Ní É allaithe.
“Ní Shé’s vision, marrying the weight and grounding of tradition with a keen sense of the evocative and the intransigent, is truly compelling.” - Bandcamp Daily
